Jacqueline Bruen

Computer Science, Ph.D. Student

Jacqueline is a second year Ph.D. student in the lab. She is currently working on projects that blend creative arts and technology. For her first year project, she developed a sonification system for two users to communicate state while they performed the gestural procedures found in crochet. She is currently running a participatory design study to refine this system and is collaborating with a professional dancer to capture the breathing techniques used in traditional Korean dance through technology. For her future work she hopes to use the creative procedures and instructions found in fiber arts such as knitting and crochet to support computer science education.
